At present, people pay more and more attention to the quality of education. Some people ate of the opinion that high school students should have the access to evaluate and criticize their teachers, while others are opposed to this.
People who advocate the process of evaluating the teachers think it could enhance the communication between the teachers and the students which will be an aid to the teaching quality improvement. As is known to everyone that traditional cramming method of teaching only emphasizes the transmission of knowledge instead of cultivating the student's thinking power or his ability to organize and work, and innovation concept. However, we have reached a stage which stresses interactive learning now. The feedback from the students enables the teachers to know what the students like and what they don't like in class. The teachers could adjust their teaching methods in order to help the students understand and acquire more.
Each thing has its relative merits and disadvantages. Some regard the evaluation and critics of teachers as a disrespectful action. The sense of distance disappears, and the students may stop respecting their teachers and ignore the discipline in class. Their fear is justified.
In my opinion, the advantages of this kind of evaluation outweigh the disadvantages. Of course, the students' comments and thoughts had better be associated with studying and teaching. As for the teachers' private life, it is not suitable. Based on adequate communication and mutual respect, the quality of education can easily be improved.
